We Are Hiring! Kickstart Roles...

The Friendly Eco is hiring! We are looking for two enthusiastic Retail Team Members to join our small business. The roles are for 25 hours per week over 4 days - typically working one weekend day. This is a great role for anyone looking to gain experience in the sustainable retail sector!
Note - This is a Government-backed Kickstart Scheme opportunity, and is open to anyone aged 18-24 and on Universal Credit who is not studying.
The Friendly Eco is an independent sustainable parenting shop. Our mission is to help parents look after the planet so that their children can have a greener future. We operate out of our Staple Hill store with a mixture of online and in-store orders to fulfill, with the occasional local weekend event which you may have the opportunity to attend.
The role involves serving in-store customers and answering their questions, fulfilling our online orders and maintaining the shop floor. You will also be required to carry out a range of administrative tasks such as managing stock, using our online sales platform and the opportunity to assist with our social media.
This is a customer-facing role and we will provide any training necessary. You will gain an understanding of daily retail management tasks as well as a typical retail logistics chain. You will also gain an important understanding of environmental issues close to the business, ethical supply chains and sustainable parenting products.
You will receive support and training throughout, but will be required to work independently in-store 1-2 days a week once settled in. This will include the responsibility of opening the store in the morning and/or locking up at the end of the day.
We are looking for someone with good English/communication skills and a basic understanding of tech (to use the iPad and computer). Trustworthiness and enthusiasm are key in a retail setting. A keen interest in eco-friendly/sustainable living is desirable - you don’t have to know much, the desire to learn is what’s important!
